Using the Myer’s Briggs to Understand Personality Preferences

Course Overview
This course applies the use of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as a tool to help participants to determine their individual preference types.  Information on the four basic personality types and related preference scales is presented and discussed.  Participants will gain better insight into themselves thereby enabling them to better manage their time and interactions with others in the workplace.

Objectives
As a result of taking this course, you will learn to:

  • Describe type theory and its application to improving workplace productivity
  • Develop an increased awareness regarding how you and others are energized, take in information, make decisions and manage lifestyles, and how this impacts the work environment

  • Psychological type theory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

  • The founders and their theory as related to human behavior

  • How the indicator and personality preferences are applied

  • Ethical uses and misuses of personality type and the indicator

  • The MBTI Preference Scales and implications at work

  • The ways in which we take in information

  • How people evaluate options and make decisions

  • The ways people organize their lives

  • Preferences influence communication, problem solving and resolving conflict

  • Action planning to identify any behavior changes needed to improve participation, communication and general productivity
