Course Overview
In the Executive Challenge Extended Edition participants of this revolutionary business simulation become members of the management team for a start-up company. Each team is composed of a CEO, CFO, VP’s, and Directors. Teams have eight to eleven individuals and compete to dominate a competitive marketplace. As pressure mounts, leadership is tested. To succeed, teams must develop and execute a coherent strategy for launching new products and operating their business in a competitive marketplace. Unexpected issues and events arise during the simulation that teams must address or risk facing adverse consequences. All activity must occur in a coordinated fashion and teams must create an effective group process for making and executing decisions under the pressure of time and competition. The Extended Edition simulation will be supplanted by lectures, group discussions, and team workshops to expand understanding of key learning objectives.
Objectives/Topics
As a result of taking this course, participants will increase their understanding of strategy, finance, budgeting, planning, facilitation skills, team building, and communication skills. There are a variety of ways your Executive Challenge – Extended Edition can be designed. There are four recommended modules and ten elective modules that can be included in the deployment. Recommended modules include: Introduction to Executive Challenge (includes welcome and background material), Thinking Strategically, Prioritizing Projects, and Making the Pitch. Elective modules include: Understanding Financial Statements and Ratios, Budgets and Resource Planning, Facilitation Skills, Working in a Matrix Organization, Resource Planning, Change Management, Peer Feedback, Presentation Skills, Lean Fundamentals, and Fundamentals of Six Sigma.
