VSAM for PL/I Programmers

Course Number:  656-TF
Recommended Duration:  2 days

Intended Audience
PL/I programmers who need to work with VSAM data sets, both from an AMS (Access Method Services) perspective, and from PL/I programs.

Course Overview
This course is appropriate for PL/I for MVS & VM, Visual Age PL/I for OS/390, and Enterprise PL/I for z/OS.  There are six hands-on exercises (two of which are optional).

Objectives
Students who complete this course will be able to define, load, print, and delete VSAM data sets, and to process VSAM data sets from PL/I programs.

Prerequisites
The student should be able to code a PL/I program and be able to code JCL to run simple batch jobs.
