VSAM with Access Method Services

Recommended Duration:  2 days

Intended Audience
Programmers and data administrators who need to work with VSAM data sets from an AMS (Access Method Services) perspective, independent of any programming language.

Course Overview
This course is for people who need to know VSAM concepts and terms and how to use IDCAMS, the VSAM utility, but don't need any programming interface information.  There are four hands-on exercises.

Objectives
Students who complete this course will be able to define, load, print, and delete VSAM data sets using Access Method Services, and to estimate space requirements for VSAM data sets.

Prerequisites
The student should be able to code JCL to run simple batch jobs.
